The Founding of Mitchell, Ontario; 1837

James Tilley and his family arrived in Canada and homesteaded their Land Grant from the Canada Company in 1835. He and his wife would live out there days in Mitchell and are buried in the local Methodist Woodlawn Cemetery. They had sixteen children, of which twelve survived into adulthood.
This included Wm. E. Tilley, Ross Tilley's grandfather.
